Accessibility Statement
Our commitment to making this website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
BLTN Consulting is actively working to ensure our website conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We view accessibility as an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project.
BLTN Consulting LLC is committed to ensuring that our website, bltnconsulting.com, is accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. We believe that every person deserves equal access to information about our services, and we are dedicated to providing a website experience that is accessible, usable, and inclusive.
1. Our Commitment
BLTN Consulting is committed to digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards. Our goal is to meet or exceed the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
2. Conformance Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for everyone.
The WCAG guidelines are organized around four principles — that web content must be:
- Perceivable — information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive
- Operable — user interface components and navigation must be operable by all users
- Understandable — information and the operation of user interfaces must be understandable
- Robust — content must be robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies
3. Measures We Have Taken
To support accessibility, BLTN Consulting has implemented the following measures across our website:
- Skip navigation link — a "Skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation
- Semantic HTML structure — we use proper HTML landmarks including
<main>,<nav>,<header>, and<footer>to help screen readers navigate efficiently - ARIA labels and roles — interactive elements including navigation menus, buttons, and form controls have descriptive ARIA labels that communicate their purpose to assistive technologies
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are fully accessible via keyboard, with logical tab order and visible focus indicators
- Focus-visible styles — a visible gold outline appears on all focused elements, making keyboard navigation clear and obvious
- Descriptive alt text — all meaningful images include descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes and hidden from screen readers
- Sufficient color contrast — our color palette is designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratio requirements for both normal and large text
- Resizable text — all text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- No zoom restriction — our pages do not disable user zoom or text scaling
- Reduced motion support — animations and transitions are suppressed for users who have the "prefers reduced motion" setting enabled in their operating system
- Structured headings — pages use a logical heading hierarchy (H1 through H3) that allows screen reader users to navigate by heading
- Descriptive page titles — every page has a unique, descriptive title that accurately reflects its content
- Language declaration — the page language is declared in HTML (
lang="en") to support screen reader pronunciation - ARIA state management — interactive widgets such as the mobile menu, share dropdown, and blog category filters communicate their current state (expanded/collapsed, pressed/not pressed) to assistive technologies
4. Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, we acknowledge that some limitations may exist:
- Gold accent color contrast — The gold color (#c9a84c) used throughout the site for decorative brand elements (section labels, accent lines, arrow indicators, and italic accent words in headings) does not meet WCAG AA contrast ratios against light backgrounds. These elements are used exclusively for visual brand identity purposes and do not convey any information that is not already available through the surrounding headings, body text, and page structure. No content or functionality is dependent on these decorative elements.
- Third-party content — some content or functionality provided by third-party services (such as our client portal) may not fully conform to our accessibility standards. We encourage those vendors to improve their own accessibility and will seek alternatives where possible.
- Images from third-party sources — blog post images sourced from external providers include descriptive alt text written by our team, but the images themselves were not produced by us.
- PDF documents — if we publish any PDF documents in the future, we will ensure they are tagged and accessible. Please contact us if you need any document in an alternative format.
We are actively working to address any remaining limitations. If you encounter a barrier we have not yet resolved, please contact us.
